The Municipal Library is located in the Civic Tower inUmberto I Square.

The Librarycan be traced back to the activity of the “reading centre” with which – for some decades after the war – the Minister of Public Education promoted popular culture. The library was then enlarged by donations from private families.

The library houses a series of original scientific volumes dealing with pharmacopoeia; over 200 rare examples of legal texts including five volumes printed in Venice in 1569 constituting the Juridical Code of Justinian; in addition of course to the historical library containing literary, poetic, historical, geographical and religious works.

Opening hours

Currently the Library cannot be visited due to the potential instability of the structure caused by the most recent series of earthquakes.
