Equipped with modern technologies, this is located on the top floor of the municipal building in Umberto I Square.
The art collection includes works ranging from the 15th century to modern times.The exhibition rooms are designated by the names of the hamlets of Patrignone, Porchia and Valdaso.Three other rooms are dedicated, respectively, to Sistus V, Giuseppe Sacconi – whose study has been reconstructed here – and Osvaldo Licini.
Among the most interesting works there are: furnishings and clothes of the Magistrates of the end of the 1500s; the gold medals that Pope Sistus V wanted to complement their clothing; coins from the Montalto mint; some paintings with sacred subjects from the 17th – 18th centuries; a series of portraits, including those of Pope Sistus V and his sister Camilla Peretti; a 17th century city gate in carved wood called PortadeiLeoni and a rare oil painting on copper depicting the adoration of the Magi from the 17th century attributed to SebastianoGhezzi.In addition, a photographic archive reports rare images of Montalto and the area from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
